Well, well, well, if it isn't Spencer Pratt stirring the pot again! The former Hills villain-turned-mayoral-hopeful is out here dropping bombshells, accusing none other than CBS of letting Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass's PR team get their grubby little hands on his interview footage. His claim? They allegedly chopped up his hour-long chat into a "comical five-minute hit piece." Ouch!
Pratt, never one to shy away from a public spectacle, took to X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, cameras rolling, to air his grievances. He spilled the tea, saying, "After CBS embarrassed Karen Bass by fact-checking her debate lies about the Palisades fire, they clearly got the call." According to Speidi's better half, CBS spent over an hour filming him "on [his] burned-out lot discussing crime, housing affordability, things that voters care about." But then, he says, they "turned it over to Karen Bass’s PR team to edit it into a comical five-minute hit piece with clips from ‘The Hills.'" Cue the dramatic music! He's demanding the network release the full, uncut interview. (Spoiler alert: they did, four hours later, but we'll get to that.)
Now, this isn't the first time CBS has faced heat over editing controversies. The network shelled out a hefty $16 million to Donald Trump (back when he was just a candidate) who claimed deceptive editing of a Kamala Harris interview for 60 Minutes. So, Pratt’s allegations are definitely hitting a nerve.
"They can’t beat my ideas," Pratt ranted on. "They can’t beat me in the debates. So they got to try to turn my campaign into a sideshow. People are done with these skeezy political tricks, and I’m done with CBS. They should release the full unedited interview the voters deserve to hear from their next mayor." Strong words, Spence!
The Tweets Heard 'Round the Internet
Pratt, ever the social media strategist, didn't stop there. He followed up his initial video with another tweet, doubling down on his demand, even linking to the written version of the interview on CBS's site. He wants the whole enchilada, not just the appetizer!
As of Saturday, neither CBS nor a spokesperson for Mayor Bass had responded to requests for comment. Radio silence. We're on the edge of our seats, waiting to see if anyone will address these spicy claims.
From Reality TV Villain to Mayoral Contender
For those who've been living under a rock, Spencer Pratt, now 42, first shot to fame as the deliciously devious villain on MTV’s early aughts hit, The Hills. Yes, the same show that brought us crystal shopping, relationship drama, and plenty of "You know what you really did."
Initially, his foray into politics was largely seen as a novelty act, a celebrity dabbling in the serious world of public service. But don't judge a book by its reality TV cover! Pratt has actually been making waves. Thanks to an aggressive social media campaign, a subtle nod from Joe Rogan (which, let's be real, carries weight these days), and a surprisingly strong showing in the first mayoral debate, Pratt's polling numbers have apparently surged. He's proving to be more than just a meme; he's a legitimate contender, or at least, that's what his campaign and his loyal "Pratt Fam" might tell you.
It seems Mr. Pratt is determined to shake up the political landscape, one dramatic accusation at a time. Will CBS or Mayor Bass respond? Will Spencer Pratt continue his surprising rise in the polls? One thing's for sure: the Mayoral race just got a whole lot more entertaining. Stay tuned, because it looks like this reality star is just getting started!
