Hold up, buttercups, because this just in: Tom Hardy, yes, that Tom Hardy, is officially a rapper! And not just dabbling – he’s dropped a whole dang album. The actor, known for his intense roles and brooding good looks, has finally unleashed his longtime passion for hip-hop onto the world with his debut full-length rap project, Czarface Meets Frankie Pulitzer. Talk about a plot twist!

The album, which hit the airwaves on Friday, August 28, sees Hardy teaming up with the legendary underground hip-hop supergroup Czarface. He's not just lending his name, oh no. Hardy is fully embodying his rap alter ego, Frankie Pulitzer, on this 15-track extravaganza. Released via Silver Age, this project marks the first time Hardy is truly leading the charge as a hip-hop artist.

For those not in the know, Czarface is a heavyweight collective featuring 7L & Esoteric, alongside the one and only Inspectah Deck from the iconic Wu-Tang Clan. These maestros are handling the bulk of the project with Hardy, while the beats and production across the 47-minute album are courtesy of Czar-Keys, a dynamic duo made up of 7L and Spada4. So, we're talking about some serious street cred backing up our British hunk.

And if you thought Hardy was going to go it alone, think again! He’s brought in some major players for his rap debut. The album boasts an impressive guest list, including none other than the legendary Busta Rhymes, the illustrious Method Man, the critically acclaimed El-P, and the soulful Kendra Morris. That’s a lineup that would make any seasoned rapper jealous!

To celebrate the album's arrival, Hardy and Czarface also dropped the official music video for "Mad Technology," featuring Method Man. And let's just say, Frankie Pulitzer is leaning heavily into pop culture references on this track. Expect shout-outs to Stephen King's chilling classics Cujo and Misery, a nod to Marvel's mighty Thor, and even a mention of actor Shameik Moore. Sounds like he's been doing his homework!

Now, if Frankie Pulitzer sounds vaguely familiar, it's because this isn't his first rodeo. The masked enigma previously popped up on Czarface material linked to the Venom: Let There Be Carnage soundtrack back in 2021. He also teamed up with Method Man on the track "Knull & Void" in 2024. Hardy has remained tight-lipped about explicitly confirming Frankie Pulitzer is him, always appearing with his entire face obscured by a mask. Keeping us guessing, eh, Tom?

But Hardy's journey into the hip-hop world goes way, way back. Long before he was brooding on screen, he was spitting rhymes under the moniker Tommy No. 1 in the late 1990s. However, he wasn't exactly showering his early efforts with praise when he chatted with the BBC in 2011. He candidly admitted, "Because I come from a nice middle-class neighbourhood, it was a very hard sell. And I wasn't very good!"

Well, it looks like our boy Tom has certainly refined his flow since those early days! From Tommy No. 1 to Frankie Pulitzer, it’s clear Hardy’s passion for hip-hop is no fleeting fancy. And honestly, we're here for it. Who knew the guy who played Bane could also drop sick beats? The more you know!
